On March 10th 2016, the city of Iasi had the launch of the first Romanian Municipal Center for the Collection of household waste. The occasion was marked by the start of an awareness raising campaign meant to inform and encourage the people of Iasi to participate in the “My Clean Iasi” project by correctly discarding waste at CMCI and thus participating in a raffle offering attractive prizes.
During 10 - 31 March 2016, hundreds of citizens of Iasi visited the Municipal Collection Center of Iasi (CMCI), a project that resulted from the partnership of ECOTIC, Iasi City Hall, SALUBRIS SA and Norway Grants. People demonstrated amazing involvement; they truly started their spring clean-up and came to the Center to hand over various types of waste: paper, plastic, glass, electronic equipment, textiles, batteries, as well as reusable goods that would be donated to disadvantaged groups.
Young and old, they were all registered for an attractive raffle. It is worth mentioning the diversity of those who responded to the launch campaign and decided to actively contribute to the cleaning of their city. The registrations show very young participants alongside people in their 80s, who put their community's needs ahead of their personal comfort. Congratulations!
