ECOTIC came up with an efficient information circuit for WEEE collection

Starting with May, ECOTIC started an awareness campaign targeted at owners' associations in Botosani, Timisoara and Bucharest's District 6, together with local sanitation companies: Urban Serv Botosani, Retim Ecologic Service from Timisoara and Urban Bucharest. Tens of thousands of people found out where and how they can responsibly hand over WEEE.

Mr. Ionescu lives in a Romanian city. He is a normal man; he lives in an apartment that offers his inhabitants a lot of comfort. Of course you will find a washing machine, a refrigerator and a TV set in his house, and many more other electrical and electronic equipment. Yet Mr. Ionescu has had this equipment for some time now and he should change it and get some new ones; at least change the really, really old ones. But what should he do with them? They are big and heavy, no way he can load them up in his car. Renting a truck, that would be too expensive.

And so, one May morning, Mr. Ionescu sees a poster on the building’s notice board that clearly informs him on how he can hand over any old equipment. “Such useful information!” he thinks to himself; he's just one of the tens of thousands of Romanians who found the right answers regarding the handing over of WEEE.

That happened because starting with May 2015, ECOTIC alongside Urban Serv Botosani, Retim Ecologic Service and Urban Bucharest started a campaign that was clearly targeted at owners' associations in Botosani, Timisoara and Bucharest's District 6. It is certainly the most efficient to communicate not only where the right public is, but also where the problem is, since most of WEEE in Romania can be found in people's homes.

Tens of thousands of people were thus informed on how to correctly get rid of WEEE; very useful information was printed on the posters created by ECOTIC and distributed by the sanitation companies, in a joint effort. Thus, approx. 50000 people from 46 associations have already been informed in Botosani, almost all 2000 posters have already been distributed in Timisoara, the same as in Bucharest.

We want to thank Urban Serv Botosani, Urban Bucharest and Retim Ecologic Service for their support and involvement in a communication circuit that has many advantages and hopefully great results. We will soon come back with this campaign's results.
