Perspectives for development until 2020. ”

ECOTIC was represented at this event by Nicoleta Lazar, Operational Director, and Gabriela Serban, Economic Director. The event was a very good opportunity to look back and analyze the current situation of waste management in Romania, the lessons learned after the development of projects financed through Environment Operational Program; at the same time, participants discussed and identified the perspectives for moving forward and developing this field in Romania, making the necessary correlations between the situation on the field and the experience, realities and tendencies at European level.

All this was possible thanks to the numerous attendance by representatives of institutions, organizations and companies that are relevant to waste management: the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Forests, the Ministry of European Funds, the National Agency for Environmental Protection the National Environment Guard , local administrations, associations and research institutions, construction companies and companies specialized in the material and energetic valuation of waste. Representatives of the Solid Waste National Association of Moldova were also invited to the event; workgroups were created and Mrs. Gabriela Serban, ECOTIC’s Economic Director, took part in the program.

It was an excellent opportunity for all parties involved in the national waste management system to present the current situation form their own perspective and try to correlate it with the information received from other fields of action. At the same time, it was important to create a vision for the future that would create the framework for actions that are more aligned to European trends and thus would be more efficient.
