On April 12th 2016, The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of France in Romania (CCIFER) organized a round table dedicated to “Selective Collection of Waste: legislative framework and best practices in Romania”. The event was hosted by CCIFER and was organized in partnership with Ateliere Fara Frontiere (AFF - Workshops without Borders) and ECOTIC.

The European position on the subject of selective collection and recycling is becoming firmer; at the same time, there are new mandatory national targets on waste collection. In this context, CCIFER organized an event dedicated to the legislative framework and best practices in this field in Romania.

The agenda of the event offered the participants an opportunity to understand the national legislative framework - through the contribution of EY Romania, as well as very clear examples of best practices in waste collection and recycling. AUTOECO, Cora Romania and Ateliere Fara Frontiere (AFF) presented functional approaches from the perspective of their respective domains of activity.

ECOTIC, represented by its President, Mr. Valentin Negoita, presented the example of the Municipal Collection Center of Iasi, the first universal collection center for household waste in Romania, co-financed by Innovation Norway and ECOTIC; the center was launched on March 10th 2016. The presentation continued with another successful project, ECOTIC Caravan.

CCIFER's event was a good opportunity for both an exchange of experience and a change of perspective on the subject of selective waste collection and recycling in Romania.
