During 4 - 8 October 2016, the citizens of Drobeta-Turnu Severiclean-cities-drobetan are invited to hand over waste of electrical and electronic equipment for recycling purposes. Started in May 2016, the “Clean Cities” campaign by ECOTIC is dedicated to informing, raising awareness and collecting WEEE in urban areas.

The campaign started in Botosani and delivered very good results (3.4 tons of WEEE collected during the campaign); it will continue during October and another three Romanian cities will be visited. Citizens of Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Giurgiu and Motru will be informed and encouraged to correctly hand over WEEE at collection points set up by local sanitation partners.

In Drobeta-Turnu Severin, collection will take place at the location located in 4bis Constructorilor St., between 8 am and 4.30 pm. Instant prizes will be awarded to those who hand over a cumulative quantity of at least 5 kg of WEEE.

ECOTIC had the important support of local authorities in an initiative that continues the organization's efforts to generate well-known and efficient local solutions for WEEE collection. The general context is pressing, considering that 2016 is the first year with a mandatory collection target of 40%; ECOTIC reached that target in 2015.

Here is the program of the "Clean Cities" campaign:

  • Drobeta Turnu Severin: 4 - 8 October 2016;
  • Motru: 10 - 14 October 2016;
  • Giurgiu: 10 - 14 October 2016.
