The CLEAN CITIES: Botosani campaign was held between June 1st - July 3rd 2016, with the objective of encouraging the citizens of Botosani to correctly collect and hand over WEEE.

Anyone living in the city that came and handed over a minimum of 10 kg of cumulated WEEE at Urban SERV’s collection points was awarded an instant prize within stock limit. It is noteworthy to mention the increased interest and willingness of the population to contribute to causes linked to the cleanliness of their own city and environment. The campaign exceeded expectations and resulted in 3.4 tons of collected WEEE.

The increased awareness of Romanians concerning the subject of WEEE collection was also confirmed by the latest study released by ECOTIC. This is good news, considering that starting this year Romania has a mandatory national target of 40% for WEEE collection. ECOTIC has already reached this target in 2015 yet much remains to be improved at national level. More decisive involvement on the part of local authorities and sanitation companies is really important. In this sense, Botosani was a positive example.
