WEEE Forum meeting in Bucharest

Between May, 15 and 16, Bucharest was the host of the WEEE Forum activities.
The representatives of the most important collective schemes in WEEE management from Europe, have gathered for the General Assembly of the WEEE Forum that took place on 05/16/2014, at the Intercontinental Hotel.
With this occasion, a review of the WEEE Forum activity in 2013 was made. In the review was highlighted the completion of the WEEELABEX project through the foundation of the Weeelabex Organization that has headquarters at Prague.The transformation of the WEEELABEX standards into CENELEC standards was also an important aspect in the meeting agenda. During the meetings was mentioned the contribution to the project „Countering illegal WEEE trade” developed with Interpol as well as a number of events and meetings having as central theme waste electrical and electronic equipment.

At the meeting that took place on May 16, issues related to future projects of the WEEE Forum were discussed, as a result of the applications submitted for the funding line Horizon 2020 and the transposition of the new Directive into the national legislation.

One of the highlights was the election of a new president of the organization, following the retirement from the business of the former President, Jose Ramon Carbajosa. The newly elected president Philip Morton representative of Repic, from Britain (www.repic.co.uk). Philip Morton works for over 10 years in this field and has been for 2 years a member of the Board of Directors of WEEE Forum.

The participants were impressed by the warm welcome and also by the location chosen for the activities, which allowed a panoramic view of the city.

Some of those present at WEEE Forum activities have extended their stay in Bucharest for sightseeing.
