Starting with January 2020, Romanians are encouraged to "be in the country as well as abroad" and to hand over waste electrical and electronic equipment responsibly.

Between November 10 and 27, 2020, ECOTIC together with its partners, APM Botoșani, Botoșani City Hall, Bucecea City Hall, Vorona City Hall, Botoșani Environmental Guard, ADI Ecoproces, Eltrans and UrbanServ organize waste collection campaigns for electrical and electronic equipment in the municipality Botoșani, Bucecea town and Vorona commune.

Thus, ECOTIC urges the inhabitants of the cities of Botoșani and Bucecea and of the commune of Vorona to hand over correctly for recycling the waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) following that each person who hands over waste of 20kg cumulated will receive an instant prize.

The municipal collection points in the city of Botosani are:

The inhabitants of Botoșani, Bucecea and Vorona commune benefit from free pick-up services for large and bulky WEEE, calling the following numbers:

  • Botoșani Municipality: 0231 517 007 or 0747 081 027. The takeover from home will take place between 23 and 27 November 2020.
  • The city of Bucecea: 0757 326 842. The takeover from home will take place on November 23, 2020.
  • Vorona commune: 0757 326 842. The takeover from home will take place on November 23, 2020.

Collection at home will be done in compliance with health and safety requirements.

“Electrical equipment waste contains hazardous substances that, once in nature, pollute in the long run, thus impacting our health, the health of all. It is important to understand that they must be collected separately at dedicated collection points. Thus, together with our partners we organized these campaigns to come to the aid of the inhabitants of Botoșani County, providing them with collection points and free lifting services from home. ” says Florin Catz, EST, ECOTIC area coordinator.

The "Clean Cities" and "Clean Communes" campaigns are part of the national information campaign "Be in your country as well as abroad", organized by ECOTIC in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests. Its purpose is to contribute to the awareness of the Romanian public regarding the correct behavior towards a type of waste: WEEE - waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Through it, ECOTIC aims to promote good practices in the European Union and to inform the Romanian public on separate collection solutions for electrical and electronic waste available to all: electronics and home appliances stores, municipal collection points and campaigns on which ECOTIC carries out regularly, in urban and rural areas.
