The National Agency for Environmental Protection together with ECOTIC started on July 22, 2014, the program  "Practice and experience in selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)." This program is addressed to city halls and sanitation operators that operate nation wide. The first event took place in Olt county, with the support of the Olt Environmental Protection Agency. Part of the program is included in the ECOTIC Life + Caravan a project co-financed by the European Union within Life program.

OLT Environmental Protection Agency, in partnership with the ECOTIC Association, organized on July, 22, 2014, a workshop in the program  "Practice and experience in selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)." This initiative is dedicated exclusively to city halls and county sanitation operators from OLT. The organizers aim to bring to the forefront the problem of electronic waste management, to identify and apply the best methods for collecting and recycling them.

Within the program, the city halls and county sanitation operators have the opportunity to capitalize on the experience of over 8 years of ECOTIC in organizing national WEEE management system. The exchange of experience between participants in this program will allow local authorities from the county to design and implement the best solutions for the collection of WEEE from households, economic agents and public institutions.

The first step of the program was the workshop organized on July 22, 2014, at the Environmental Protection Agency OLT. This meeting brought together all parties involved in the correct management of this waste stream. OLT Environmental Protection Agency considers the event as particularly useful, given the need to develop permanent WEEE collection systems in the county, in collaboration with representatives of manufacturers and importers of electronic equipment. The national target of collecting these types of waste is established by specific legislation, to 4 kg / inhabitant.

The second phase of the program "Practice and experience in selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)" implies the voluntarily organization of specific actions by mayors and county sanitation operators, such as: statistical analysis of the situation of WEEE in household ownership or premises of economic operators, public institutions, the establishment of WEEE collection points for the population, organizing programs to collect from the population.

Environmental Protection Agency OLT, based on the partnership with ECOTIC will monitor these activities throughout their deployment.

The first stage of the program is achieved through the contribution of the LIFE financial instrument of the European Union, being included in the project called ECOTIC Life + Caravan.
