The ECOTIC Caravan and projects intended for children and teachers all over Romania

The "ECO DAYS IN YOUR SCHOOL!" campaign is an awareness campaign that involves schools and their communities - teachers, students and their families - in ecological activities inside the schools that registered in our campaign. The focal point of interest is the Caravan’s visit to the school that takes part in the project.

This campaign has very clear and easy to monitor objectives: reaching as many schools as possible and thus reaching a sensitive public to educational activities (children), organizing eco-friendly and awareness-building activities and finalizing them in concrete actions of collection for WEEE and battery waste.

We want to make the process as fun and interactive as possible, so we register the schools for a competition! Based on their level of involvement and the results they obtain, the most eco-diligent schools are rewarded in each edition of the campaign.

We started the second edition on September 1st, 2015! Up until October 20th, 2015, all schools that have 1st to 8th grades are invited to register for the "ECO Days in Your School!" campaign.

The towns that are on the map of the current edition are:

The first edition of the “ECO Days in Your School” campaign started in November 2014 and ended with the school year, in June 2015. The message regarding the need to correctly collect and recycle WEEE reached 104 schools in 23 towns all over the country and more than 50 children were involved. All schools were registered for a fun and useful competition and the jury decided on the winners. As a result, 000 tons of WEEE and 20.1 tons of battery waste were collected.

The winners of the first edition of the "ECO Days in Your School" campaign:

  • 1st place and an eco-camp for 20 children: „Carmen Sylva” Secondary School in Iasi, coordinating teacher Mariana Dinter;
  • 2nd place and a smart schoolboard: Sports High School in Botosani, coordinating teacher Anca Toma;
  • 3rd place and a video-projector + home cinema system: "Vasile Alecsandri" secondary school in Romanian, coordinating teacher Poenaru Alexandra Georgiana.

The eco-camp "Love for the Mountains" took place between June 30th - July 5th 2015 in Gura Raului (Sibiu). The secondary school children were involved in very attractive activities for their age: mountain walks, touristic orientation, camping, seminars (touristic markings, endangered species of plants in Cindrel Mountains, water - the source of life, first aid, rules of the mountains) , eco-workshops, creative workshops and the camp fire made the best of this wonderful camp.

The ECOTIC Caravan is a projectco-financed through EU's Life instrument.
