2019 starts with a new collection campaign

ECOTIC starts the new year with a campaign to collect waste electrical and electronic equipment from Orașe Curate in Buftea, Ilfov County.

On February 22, ECOTIC in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Buftea City Hall and Servicii Salubritate Bucuresti SA encourages the citizens of Buftea to hand over correctly for recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), following the delivery of a waste of at least 5 kg be enrolled in a raffle, where they will have the chance to win vacuum cleaners, irons, mixers and juicers. Citizens are invited to dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment, which will be collected by Servicii de Salubritate Bucuresti SA

At the same time, the citizens of Buftea can benefit from a free service. Thus, the collection of waste of large and bulky electrical and electronic equipment will be done from home based on a prior appointment at the phone number 0213138636, callable between 9:00 and 13:00.

"We try to raise awareness among Buftea residents about the importance of separate collection of recyclable waste, through information / awareness activities, encouraging them to selectively hand over recyclable waste, especially waste electrical and electronic equipment," said Adelina Dumitrașcu, the southern zonal coordinator from ECOTIC.

Romania, as an EU member state, has the obligation to reach a target of 45% collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) by 2020. In this regard, ECOTIC continues its efforts to raise awareness among the population.

"Clean Cities" is the ECOTIC campaign that pursues this goal in the urban environment. Together with local public and environmental authorities, ECOTIC has informed and continues to inform residents of dozens of cities across the country about the need to collect WEEE, providing specialized collection points.

In 2018, ECOTIC carried out 53 campaigns that informed over 5000.000 people.
