DIGITALEUROPE and CECED, together with WEEE Forum, the international association of WEEE transfer responsibility organizations, of which ECOTIC is a part, are launching a joint online platform - I4R. This new platform will allow recyclers to access information about hazardous materials in equipment. WEEE Forum will host and manage the platform.
“We want to provide solutions to this problem, and the I4R platform is essential to better inform managers in the recycling industry and train workers in safety issues. By providing information at product group level, the I4R platform will help recyclers to optimize sorting where appropriate," said Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, CEO of DIGITALEUROPE.

Context
Article 15 of Directive 2012/19 / EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) requires manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) to provide free information on preparation for re-use and treatment for each type of EEE placed on the market. In 2005, CECED and DIGITALEUROPE, representing the manufacturers of household appliances and IT & C / consumer electronics and EERA electronics recyclers, agreed on the format of this information. Since then, manufacturers have collected the information in a harmonized reporting format for each product on their websites. Today, these organizations are launching a common online platform.
