The statement is part of the interview given by Valentin Negoita, President of ECOTIC, CSRevolution on August 1, 2013.

"It is almost impossible that in the 21st century there are people, families or households that do not use electrical and electronic equipment in their current activities. At least if we are talking about European civilization. But what happens when they are no longer functional? A solution to this problem is offered by Valentin Negoiță, President of ECOTIC.

CSRevolution: Can you give us some examples of programs that aim to recycle electrical, electronic and household waste?
Valentin Negoiță, President of ECOTIC: Every year, ECOTIC develops a wide range of awareness and collection activities addressed to both individuals and legal entities. From 2007 until now, ECOTIC has carried out over 50 awareness and collection campaigns. Since the beginning of 2013 we have developed projects such as: Eco Education - a project for students, collection campaigns in: Botoșani, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Suceava, in Sector 2 in Bucharest, and the photo and video contest “I want a Romania” is underway Cleaner ”, initiated together with the Hotnews.ro platform, an activity that is part of a project financed from Swiss funds.

CSRevolution: How many collection points for electrical, electronic and household waste exist in Romania?
Valentin Negoiță, President of ECOTIC: We can confirm that in the ECOTIC system at the moment there are approximately 450 collection points. The total number at national level is held by the environmental authorities.

CSRevolution: What is the role of Ecotic in the collection, reuse, recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)?
Valentin Negoiță, President of ECOTIC: ECOTIC is a collective organization that currently takes over the responsibilities of 375 manufacturers / importers of electrical and electronic equipment. ECOTIC collaborates with authorized operators in order to collect, treat, but also recycle on behalf of affiliated manufacturers to meet their targets. In 2012, ECOTIC collected over 7.300 tons of waste electrical and electronic equipment, out of an estimated total of 20.000 tons. In order to fulfill the responsibilities of our producers we constantly organize awareness activities in partnership with local authorities.

CSRevolution: If we have a TV that is no longer functional but we want to recycle, who should we turn to or what should we do?

Valentin Negoiță, President of ECOTIC: The solution would be to hand it over to the nearest collection point.

On the ECOTIC website (www.ecotic.ro) we have a section dedicated to the locations of the collection points, where consumers can hand in any type of waste electrical and electronic equipment, as well as batteries. "
