The ECOTIC association carries out in the period 2015-2016, the activities within the “Steps for WEEE” project, co-financed in proportion of 90% by Norway Grants.

Innovation Norway (www.eeagrants.org - www.norwaygrants-greeninnovation.no) is a line of financing of the Norwegian Government to develop in Romania projects to increase the competitiveness of the green economy, the development of environmentally friendly technologies, job creation in the green industry and encouraging entrepreneurship in this segment.

This is done based on the Memorandum concluded in 2013 between the Governments of Romania and Norway.

The "Steps for WEEE" project involves the main activity of setting up a Municipal Collection Center on a Western European model.

Iasi City Hall responded positively to ECOTIC's proposal to set up this center in Iasi, thus supplementing the existing solutions for disposing of recyclable waste, reusable objects and hazardous waste from households.

The aim of the “Steps for WEEE” project is to increase the degree of selective collection of recyclable waste throughout the country, the start being given by this positive example in Iasi.

The objectives of the project aim, in addition to the establishment in Iasi of a Municipal Center for the Collection of Recyclable Waste and Hazardous Waste, and the following activities:

- carrying out the most important study so far on WEEE - generated WEEE

- Establishment of a street WEEE collection system in a sector in Bucharest
