In the second year of activity, ECOTIC BAT reached the proposed collection target, registering a volume of 61 tons of waste portable batteries and accumulators. This amount means reaching a collection rate of 25%, corresponding to the provisions of the European DBA Directive. This result is primarily due to the development of the ECOTIC BAT infrastructure ending 2014 with a number of 3.174 collection points. Thus, there was an increase of 184% compared to 2013, when the ECOTIC BAT system included 1.700 collection points.
Regarding the collection of waste portable batteries and accumulators, there is an upward trend and an improvement in the behavior of the population towards this category of waste. This increase is also due to the location of containers in retail stores, where the flow of people is high. The vast majority of ECOTIC BAT collection containers for the general public are located in store chains: Mega Image, Shop & Go, AB Cool Food, Altex, Media Galaxy, Penny Market, XXL, La Doi Pasi, METRO Cash & Carry, Brico Depot and at Petrom and Lukoil gas stations.
