Botosani, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Giurgiu, Motru, Galati these are "Clean Cities" placed on the map of Romania, in 2016, by the national ECOTIC campaign dedicated to the collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) from the urban environment. The objectives of the campaign are to inform the population on the need for the correct delivery for WEEE recycling, as well as for the effective collection of used equipment.
The campaign started in Botosani and continued, in October, in three other cities in Romania: Drobeta Turnu Severin, Giurgiu and Motru. Between December 12 and 16, it was the turn of the Galatians to be informed to correctly hand over the used electrical and electronic equipment at the collection points of the local sanitation partners.
The inhabitants of Galati were encouraged to participate in the campaign by awarding instant prizes to those who handed over a cumulative amount of at least 5 kg of WEEE. They were collected 1826 kg waste electrical and electronic equipment from fish 100 people.
The ECOTIC organization enjoyed the support of the local public authorities and of the sanitation and water-canal companies: Galati City Hall, SP Ecosal, the Agency for Environmental Protection Galati, Transurb Galati, Apa Canal Galati.
The press conference that will mark the end of the campaign in Galati will take place at the SPS Ecosal headquarters, on Wednesday, 21.12.2016, at 12:30.
