Between October 4 and 8, 2016, the inhabitants of Drobeta-Turnu Severin callclean-cities-drobetaDon't expect to hand over electrical and electronic waste responsibly to recycling. Launched in May 2016, the national campaign "Clean Cities" is an initiative of the ECOTIC Organization, dedicated to information, awareness and collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in urban areas.

The campaign started in Botosani with very good results (3,4 tons of WEEE collected during the campaign) and will continue, in October, in three other cities in Romania. In turn, the inhabitants of Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Giurgiu and Motru will be informed and encouraged to responsibly hand over the used electrical and electronic equipment at the collection points of the local sanitation partners.

In Drobeta-Turnu Severin, the collection will be made at the collection center from Strada Constructorilor, no. 4 bis, between 8:00 and 16:30. Instant prizes will be awarded to those who deliver a cumulative amount of at least 5 kg of WEEE.

ECOTIC enjoyed the support of local public authorities, in an initiative that continues the organization's efforts to generate local solutions as well known and efficient as possible in order to collect WEEE. The general context is a pressing one, given that, starting with 2016, Romania has a mandatory national target for WEEE collection of at least 40%, a target that ECOTIC has been meeting since 2015.

The program of the Clean Cities campaign, in October, is the following:

  • Drobeta Turnu Severin: October 4 - 8, 2016;
  • Motru: 10 - 14 October 2016;
  • Giurgiu: October 10 - 14, 2016.
