Campania CLEAN CITIES: Botosani took place between June 1 and July 3, 2016, with the objective of encouraging the inhabitants of Botosani to collect and hand over correctly for recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

Thus, any Botosani who came and handed over a cumulative minimum of 10 kg of WEEE at the Urban Serv collection points in the municipality, won an instant prize, within the available stock. At the end of the campaign, it is worth noting the increase in the degree of mobilization of the population for causes related to the greening of their localities and environmental protection. And this time, the participation in the campaign was above expectations, collecting a quantity of 3,4 tons of WEEE.

The increase of the awareness of the Romanian population on the need to collect WEEE was also confirmed by the latest study carried out by the ECOTIC Organization. It is a gratifying progress, taking into account that, from this year, Romania has a mandatory national WEEE collection target of 40%. ECOTIC reached this target last year, but at the national level, there is still much to improve. An important step is the more determined involvement of local public authorities and sanitation companies in concrete information and collection initiatives. Botosani was a positive example in this regard.
