Lithium batteries pose a significant challenge in the recycling process, especially due to the fire risks they pose.
"Industry guidance for collecting, handling, and treating waste lithium batteries" is a document to which several actors in the field at an international level contributed, including the WEEE Forum, an organization of which ECOTIC is also a part. The purpose of the document is to provide examples of good practices in recycling lithium batteries to mitigate the risks associated with them.
Due to the dangers involved, recycling of lithium batteries must be carried out in specialized centers, respecting strict safety regulations. It is essential that users hand them in at dedicated collection points, thus contributing to environmental protection and reducing fire risks.
