All types of lamps that you use in your home must be recycled after they have been used up. They must be handed over in dedicated containers, especially since some of them contain dangerous substances, such as mercury.
What are the types of lampand that you have to hand over for recycling once they are used?
- Fluorescent tubes
Popularly known as neon lights, they contain small amounts of mercury, so it is important not to break them and hand them in for recycling.
- CFL compact fluorescent bulbs
So-called energy saving light bulbs (CFLs) also contain small amounts of mercury and it is important that they end up in the recycling stream.
- LED bulbs
Increasingly common, LED bulbs, which have a long lifespan of over 10 years, must go to dedicated recycling points. Even installations with LED lights fall into this category and must be handed in for recycling at an electronics collection point
Lamps (the general name for all light bulbs, neon lights) are classified according to the legislation in the category of electrical and electronic equipment, therefore, any store that sells such equipment usually has a dedicated container. The ECOTIC collection points where you can hand in these items can be identified here https://www.ecotic.ro/puncte-de-colectare/
Also, ECOTIC together with Brico Depot is carrying out the campaign on a national level "GET YOUR HOME IN ORDER AND DO A GOOD THING FOR OUR HOUSE" within which those who bring 7 bulbs receive a new LED bulb in exchange, and at 40 bulbs the prize consists of a 10-piece screwdriver bit set.
