The Monster Hunt project

de | July. 18, 2012 | campaign

Students from 94 schools in Romania had the opportunity to participate in "Monster Hunting", an awards campaign run by the organization ECOTIC together with Junior Achievement (JARO) under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Forests for educating young people about recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and their involvement in the collection activity.

During three months (March - June 2010), students included in the program were able to bring to school old household appliances and electronics, which were collected in containers placed in the school yard, especially for this purpose. For each piece of equipment brought, the children received a code with which they participated in the monthly draw, to win the prizes offered by the organizers: T-shirts, credits for the mobile phone and the monthly Grand Prize, a "Home Cinema" system. Based on the same code, students were able to register on the website www.vanatoareademonstri.ro, to publish their own materials on the theme of the campaign. Based on the votes obtained from colleagues, the best description was awarded monthly with a laptop. 70,5 tons of WEEE were collected in this project.
