- Program for information and awareness regarding the selective collection of waste and its recycling -

Between January 28 and April 30, 2013, ECOTIC and Junior Achievement Romania, with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of National Education and the National Environmental Guard, implement in the schools in Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj, Timisoara, Bacau and Ploiesti, the Program National "ECO Education". 

  •  What does the ECO Education program mean?

ECO Education is a program to develop the responsible attitude of students and teachers towards waste, especially towards waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries and accumulators (DB / A).
The activities within the program aim at both the informative-educational side and the practical component, that of selective collection of waste batteries and accumulators in the containers specially provided by the Organizers.

  • Who participates in the ECO Education program?

The program is addressed to students from grades I - VIII, teachers of grades I - IV, teachers and / or leaders of grades V - VIII.

  • When does the ECO Education program take place?

The program will take place between January 28 and April 30, 2013. The registration of educational institutions that include grades I - VIII and who wish to participate took place between January 28 and February 08. During this period, 77 schools and 129 teachers were enrolled. The period of activities in the classes is from February 13 to March 22, 2013.

  • What stage is now underway?

The first edition of the Program ended, but the activities carried out were the following:

Between April 1 and 5, the organizers analyzed the activity carried out by each class and communicated the winning classes in the Project.

Between March 22 and 29, the authorized ECOTIC BAT collectors went to each educational institution and collected the used batteries collected in this project. We remind you that starting with February 13 and until March 22, 2013, the teachers carried out the eco-educational activities in the classrooms and in a large framework, at the level of the educational institution. The activities focused on eco-education classes, checking the knowledge gained in eco-education class through a test, drawing class on ecological topics and collecting used batteries.

  •  What are the benefits of participating in the ECO Education program?

For students:

At the end of the program, students will develop a responsible attitude towards waste, especially towards waste electrical and electronic equipment and waste batteries and accumulators, and the class that managed to collect the largest amount of waste batteries and accumulators and who had the most effervescent activity in the Program will benefit from a visit to an authorized collector - recycler, from the ECOTIC system, where the students will see and will be explained what is the recycling of electrical equipment waste.

For coordinating teachers:

Training to get acquainted with the materials and calendar of the program, visits of the organizers, within the activities carried out.

Each coordinating teacher who enrolls in the program and provides all the evidence of all the activities described in the ECO Education Program Regulations, with all the related sub-points, will receive an electronic tablet.
