Between October 10 and 14, 2016, the inhabitants of the cities of Mvisually-communicatedotru and Giurgiu are expected to hand over electrical and electronic waste correctly for recycling. Launched in May 2016, the national Clean Cities campaign is an initiative of the ECOTIC Organization, dedicated to information, awareness, and collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in urban areas.

The campaign started in Botosani with very good results (3,4 tons of WEEE collected) and continues, in October, in three other cities in Romania. In turn, the inhabitants of Giurgiu and Motru will be informed and encouraged to properly hand over the used electrical and electronic equipment at the collection points of the local sanitation partners.

In Motru, the collection will be made at the collection center from Str. Calea Tismanei no. 31, between 9 am and 13 pm. In Giurgiu, the collection center is located in Str. Gloria no. 5, and the collection program is 9 – 16. Instant prizes will be awarded to those who deliver a cumulative amount of at least 5 kg of WEEE.

ECOTIC enjoyed the support of local public authorities, in an initiative that continues the organization's efforts to generate local solutions as well known and efficient as possible in order to collect WEEE. The general context is a pressing one, given that, starting with 2016, Romania has a mandatory national target for WEEE collection of at least 40%, a target already reached by ECOTIC since 2015.

The program of the Clean Cities campaign, further, in October, is the following:

  • Motru: October 10 - 14, 2016
  • Giurgiu: October 10 - 14, 2016
