On July 3, 2017, "Clean Cities", the national ECOTIC campaign dedicated to the collection of used electricity and electronics in urban areas, took place foru for the first time in Piatra Neamț and for the second time in Galați. The campaign encouraged the inhabitants of the two municipalities to come and hand over the used electrical and electronic equipment to the municipal collection centers. Approximately two were collected from the two municipalities 6800 kg waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
The ECOTIC organization, in partnership with local authorities and sanitation companies, continues, throughout 2017, the national campaign "Clean Cities". After passing through Botoșani, Filiași, Târgu Mureș, Dorohoi and Brăila, between 3 - 28 July 2017, the inhabitants of Piatra Neamț and Galați were informed and encouraged to become aware of the problem of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and the need for to hand them over correctly for recycling.
Thus, during the campaign, any resident of the two municipalities who handed over a waste of at least 10 kg accumulated at the municipal collection points, received an instant prize. The collection points were located in areas announced in advance to the population, through communication materials.
At the end of the campaign, the two cities reported a total of approximately 6800 kg of WEEE collected. The inhabitants of Galați handed over a quantity of approximately 5300 kg of electrical waste, and those from Piatra Neamț about 1500 kg of WEEE.
The campaigns in Piatra Neamț and Galați continued, in 2017, the national program “Clean Cities”, an itinerant program of the ECOTIC Organization, dedicated to WEEE collection in the urban environment.
