The Recycling Station is an information and waste collection campaign for electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), launched by the ECOTIC Organization in June 2016 and dedicated especially to the rural environment, but also to the urban environment in Romania. Sibiu County was the fourth county traversed by the ECOTIC Caravan, with the help of the Sibiu County Council, the Sibiu Environmental Protection Agency and RECHORALEX. From the 15 Sibiu localities involved in the project 32 tons of WEEE were collected.

The first counties visited by the Ecotic Caravan, within the Recycling Station project, were Iași, Brașov and Argeș. In these counties, the ECOTIC Caravan traveled through 15 localities, collecting waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Starting with July 18, 2017, the Caravan arrived in Sibiu County, where the inhabitants of 15 localities were encouraged to hand over the old electrical and electronic equipment correctly for recycling, thus being able to participate in a raffle with attractive prizes.

The ECOTIC Caravan route within the campaign in Sibiu County included three stages. During the first stage, the localities visited were: Dumbrăveni, Moșna, Copșa Mică, Avrig and Cristian. In the second stage, the ECOTIC Caravan went through Ocna Sibiului, Șura Mică, Șelimbăr, Roșia and Nocrich, and in the third stage, WEEE collection was done in the localities Șeica Mare, Sadu, Tălmaciu, Racovița and Boita.

In total, on the Sibiu route, they were collected 32 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), The ECOTIC caravan was visited by approx 10.000 people, of which 2.300 correctly handed over waste for recycling.

The “Recycling Station” campaign is part of the ECOTIC strategy to accelerate the information of the general public and to collect used electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in the context in which, starting with 2017, Romania has a mandatory national target for minimum WEEE collection 45%.
