Bucharest, through ECOTIC, hosted the WEEE Forum activities between May 15 and 16.

Representatives of the most important collective organizations in the field of WEEE in Europe met at the General Assembly of the WEEE Forum in Bucharest, on 16.05.2014, at the Intercontinental Hotel.

On this occasion, the activity of the WEEE Forum organization was reviewed in 2013, which meant the completion of the WEEELABEX project by setting up the Weeelabex Organization, based in Prague, as well as the transformation of WEEELABEX standards into Cenelec standards. The year 2013 also marked the contribution to the project "Countering WEEE illegal trade" with Interpol but also in multiple events and meetings, the central theme being the waste of electrical and electronic equipment.

At the meeting on May 16, they also discussed topics related to future WEEE Forum projects, as a result of the applications submitted for the Horizon 2020 financing line, as well as the transposition of the new directive into national legislation.

One of the most important moments was the election of a new president of the WEEE Forum, as a result of the vacancy left by Jose Ramon Carbajosa following the change of his professional activity. The newly elected president is the British Philip Morton from the organization Repic (www.repic.co.uk). Philip Morton has been working in this field for over 10 years and has been a member of the WEEE Forum Board of Directors for 2 years.

The participants were pleasantly impressed by the warm welcome they enjoyed, and the place chosen for the activities allowed to admire the panoramic view of Bucharest.

Some of those present at the WEEE Forum activities extended their stay in Bucharest to visit the tourist objectives in the city, but also in the country.
