The ECOTIC Association launched Guide with recommendations for the operation of CAVs this being a component of the project STEPS FOR URBAN MINING (https://www.ecotic.ro/stepsforurbanmining/) funded by EEA & Norway Grants. The main objective of the project is the transfer of Norwegian know-how in the operation of centers with voluntary input (CAV

Through PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), 585 centers with voluntary intake (CAV) will be built in Romania by 2026. These centers will also be operated by sanitation companies contracted by local public authorities, therefore, the employees of these companies are also the beneficiaries of the experience exchange facilitated by the "Steps for Urban Mining" project through the organized visits to collection centers in Norway. An article dedicated to the conclusions of the visits is available here.

Also, in order to multiply the message and to be able to transmit good practices to as many local authorities as possible, ECOTIC developed a Guide with recommendations for the operation of CAVs available online here, which was launched on Friday, November 3, at a dedicated event. The recommendations in the guide contain all aspects related to the operation of a collection center: staff, access, signage, communication with citizens, necessary areas in the center and other elements of interest.

The event agenda included: Mircea Fechet – Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Ionuț Sorin Banciu – State Secretary Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests and on Fredrik Gaustad – Waste Management Consultant, InErgeo AS Norway. the 50 representatives present at the event of the entities active in waste management had the opportunity to have a dialogue with the representatives of the authorities, as well as with Fredrik Gaustad, a consultant from Norway with extensive experience in the field, he is part of the implementation teams of the various strategies that they have proven performance.

"In this way, I congratulate the partners of this project in Norway, we have to learn from the good practices in municipal waste management in other countries, who have found the recipe that works and can share their expertise with us. Now we have the know-how, we also have substantial budgets, only through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan we have more than 1 billion euros for investments in WASTE MANAGEMENT, in voluntary contribution centers, in digitized ecological islands, in recycling factories and the list can go on," said Mircea Fechet, Minister of the Environment, Waters and Forests.

The EUR 130.000 STEPS FOR URBAN MINING project is developed by ECOTIC in partnership with InErgeo and funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through EEA & Norway Grants. The aim of the project is to facilitate the transfer of Norwegian know-how in the management of municipal waste and in the operation of municipal collection centers type CAV.
