A few weeks ago, the Environment Fund Administration (EFA) submitted
ted a bill for public debate that, alongside provisions regarding the taxation of landfills - which is on the emergency list of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Forrest - contains proposals that affect the WEEE / battery waste field.
The bill proposes penalties for producers of WEEE and battery waste for the difference between the collection targets mentioned in EGO 5/2015, and 1132/2008 respectively, and their actual achievements. It would be EFA's task to verify the level of target achievement. The proposed penalty is 2 lei / kg of missed target. There is another impactful proposed provision regarding the request for weekly reports on marketed goods to be submitted to the EFA, a similar situation to that of packaging.
