Free electric waste collection service
The national campaign "Be with you in the country as well as abroad", launched by ECOTIC in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, starts in Iasi starting March 2, 2020. Its purpose is to contribute to informing the Romanian public about behavior correct compared to WEEE - waste electrical and electronic equipment and provide disposal solutions for them.
Iași City Hall, together with Salubris Iași, ECOTIC, Iași Public Transport Company and APM Iași urges the people of Iași to hand over correctly for recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), supporting them with free service for collecting used electronics from home. The residents of Iași permanently benefit from the free service for taking over large and voluminous WEEE from home or from the companies' headquarters, by calling the number 023 227 02 23.
In period, March 16 - April 17, 2020, citizens who access this service free of charge, when taking home at least 20 kg of WEEE (one WEEE or more cumulative WEEE), are automatically entered in a raffle with prizes consisting of 3 Dedeman gift cards with a face value of 300 lei. The draw of the winners will take place on April 22, 2020.
On a permanent basis, in addition to the free home pick-up service for bulky equipment, the citizens of Iași also have at their disposal the local collection points:
- Plateau Bărboi - Monday 10:00 - 18:00
- Ciurchi, no. 117 (Ciurchi Food Complex Parking) - Tuesday 10:00 - 18:00
- Nicolae Iorga, no. 15 - Wednesday 10:00 - 18:00
- Păcurari Square - Thursday 10:00 - 18:00
- South Square - Friday 10:00 - 18:00
„By implementing this campaign, Salubris together with Iași City Hall aimed to contribute to the protection of the environment in the municipality by increasing the awareness of the population and increasing the quantities of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) collected FREE by Salubris.
The campaign will take place between March 2 and April 17, 2020 and we hope that it will be a real success. We would like to thank our partners, ECOTIC Association, CTP Iași and APM Iași who are always with us in all actions carried out for the benefit of the local community. The Salubris team will be available to all citizens of Iași, by honoring orders to take bulky WEEE from home in order to recycle them. Through the campaign "Be at home in the same way as abroad", ECOTIC and Salubris aim to promote good practices in the European Union and to inform the Romanian public on solutions for the separate collection of electrical and electronic waste that are available to all but they also come in support of citizens, with the free home collection service.
Next, ECOTIC will launch local campaigns in the cities of Ploiești, Cluj, Constanța, Brașov and Bucharest.
