de | June. 25, 2013 | campaign

Between June 24 and 30, the inhabitants of Drobeta Turnu Severin participated in the project of selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment carried out by ECOTIC together with Brantner Ecological Services. The project was supported by the City Hall of Drobeta Turnu Severin.

Through the campaign "Let's learn to recycle used equipment correctly" a step forward was taken on the road we are taking in the direction of raising awareness among users of electrical and electronic equipment, on the responsibilities that come when they become waste.

Through this campaign, the organizers contributed to shaping a new, pro-active attitude towards environmental protection and resource efficiency, out of the desire for the gesture of selective collection to become a habit.

The collection campaign took place between June 24 and 30 and was addressed to the inhabitants of Drobeta Turnu Severin, reminding them of the solutions they have to get rid of old and used electrical equipment for free and in an environmentally friendly way.

The electrical and electronic equipment was brought to the collection points, specially destined for these types of waste, located on Str. Constructorilor, no. 4 bis and in the parking lots of the County Hospital, the Municipal Stadium and the Cildro Park. These points are arranged by Brantner Servicii Ecologio SA. During the campaign, almost 3 tons of waste electrical and electronic equipment and 5 kg of waste batteries and accumulators were collected.

If the equipment is bulky, residents still have the phone numbers 0252-33.33.63 or 0737-77.03.22, and a team of Brantner Ecological Services takes over the used equipment for free.

The organizers also reminded that the population has the obligation to protect the environment by handing over the used equipment to the stores where they purchase new, equivalent electrical equipment.

The organizers of the campaign together with the inhabitants of Drobeta Turnu Severin continue to send a message of support and involvement at the same time, regarding the importance of collecting and recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment. Better selective collection and recycling means for Romania, the correct fulfillment of the obligations assumed at EU level. But, first of all, it means responsibility towards the environment, an important step towards a better quality of life for the citizens of Drobeta Turnu Severin. This was also the target of the campaign: the creation of habits that are not only related to ecology, but especially to civilization.

Due to the importance of the environmental protection message that the "Let's learn to recycle used equipment correctly" campaign aimed at, ECOTIC carried out a market study to show the reasons and the interest given by the inhabitants of this city for recycling used electrical and electronic equipment. . The citizens who were kind enough to answer the questions received a small flower pot.

The campaign was covered by local TV stations and radio stations.
