Between December 12 and 16, 2016, the inhabitants of Galati are expected to hand over correctly for recycling the electrical and electronic waste. Launched in May 2016, the national Clean Cities campaign is an initiative of the ECOTIC Organization, dedicated to information, awareness, and collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in urban areas.
The campaign started in Botosani with very good results (3,4 tons of WEEE collected) and continued, in October, in three other cities in Romania: Drobeta Turnu Severin, Giurgiu and Motru. In December, it is the turn of the Galatians to be informed and encouraged to correctly hand over the used electrical and electronic equipment at the collection points of the local sanitation partners.
In Galati, the collection will be done at the three municipal collection points:
- Green Point - Drumul Viilor, no.1, from Monday to Saturday, between 8:00 and 16:00;
- Nufarului Street, no. 24 -26, from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 and 14:00;
- Barbosi sorting station, from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 and 14:00.
Instant prizes will be awarded to those who deliver a cumulative amount of at least 5 kg of WEEE, within the available stock.
Also, in the case of large WEEE, the population can request collection from home, at the telephone numbers 0236312282 and 0372741887. In such cases, a SP ECOSAL GALATI team will move and pick up the used electronic equipment.
ECOTIC enjoyed the support of local public authorities and sanitation and water-sewer companies: Galati City Hall, SP Ecosal, Galati Environmental Protection Agency, Transurb Galati, Apa Canal Galati.
