Between June 30 and July 3, 2015, the Romanian Sanitation Association, together with ISWA - International Solid Waste Association - organized in Mamaia the fifth edition of the joint conferences "Sustainability and performance of waste management systems, implemented in Romania, during 2007 -2015, the basis for the next programming period. Development prospects until 2020. ”
The ECOTIC Association participated in this event, being represented by Nicoleta Lazar, Operational Director and Gabriela Serban, Economic Director. The event was an opportunity to retrospect and analyze the current situation of waste management in Romania, the lessons learned from the development of projects funded by SOP Environment; At the same time, the participants discussed and identified the perspectives of advancement and development in this field in Romania, correlating the situation in the field with experience, realities and trends at European level.
This was possible thanks to the participation of many representatives of many institutions, organizations and companies relevant to waste management: Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, Ministry of European Funds, National Agency for Environmental Protection, National Environmental Guard, local governments, associations and institutions. education and research, construction companies, material and energy recovery of waste. Representatives of the National Association of Solid Waste of Moldova, with which working groups were organized, also participated as guests at the event. Gabriela Serban, Economic Director of ECOTIC participated in them.
It was an excellent opportunity for all parties involved in the national waste management system to present the current situation from their own perspective and to try to correlate it with information from various other areas of action. At the same time, it is important to design a vision for the future that engages responsibly in actions that are increasingly in line with European trends and, therefore, increasingly effective.
