On June 5, 2014, on the occasion of World Environment Day, ECOTIC organized the Open Day for WEEE Recycling. The event was dedicated to ECOTIC affiliated manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment. Through this action ECOTIC together with GreenWEEE from Buzau brought closer to the producers and mass media concrete aspects of the flow of collection and correct recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Among those present at this event were, along with the ECOTIC team, representatives of Samsung Romania, Metro Cash & Carry, Romtelecom, British American Tobacco, Omnilogic, Vlamir, RHS, System Plus, MGT Educational, as well as other companies. who handed over the responsibility of WEEE management to ECOTIC.
The visit to this unit allowed the present producers to follow the whole process of treatment of different categories of waste electrical and electronic equipment: refrigeration equipment, monitors, large and small electrical equipment, as well as the treatment of waste batteries and accumulators. For each of these types of waste, GreenWEEE has a specialized treatment plant. Also, in this factory there is an electrical cable processing installation.
ECOTIC wants that through all the actions it carries out to develop a community that is aware of the importance of WEEE, which actively participates in the correct collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment FOR A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT.
ECOTIC takes over this waste free of charge from the organization's over 400 affiliated producers, as well as from public institutions and companies that need to dispose of this waste in an environmentally friendly manner. ECOTIC's WEEE collection infrastructure is present throughout the country, with over 500 collection points. Through the visit organized at GreenWEEE, ECOTIC brought closer to those interested the concrete aspects of WEEE collection and recycling and other waste. The event organized by ECOTIC on the occasion of World Environment Day also included a visit to GreenFiber, a recycling unit that is part of the Green Group where plastic waste is recycled.
World Environment Day is one of the main ways in which the United Nations promotes worldwide awareness of the importance of involving each of us in protecting the environment.
